Is it Trevor that's famous? Or Trevor's arms? Is the pub named after one of these, or is it the Trevor's Arms that's famous, as in the pub itself? Does this matter? No.

I love this pub in Chorlton. Aside from the Wetherspoons, which is admittedly the best Wetherspoons in the world, there are few traditional pubs in the area that are any good. The pub to trendy bar ratio is not good at all! So this place is a breath of fresh air.

And to boot, its one of the best football pubs in South Manchester, with a decent crowd rocking up for all the games, and the big fixtures drawing in the numbers and producing a great atmosphere.

Went to Chorlton on the tram to peruse an area I didn't know at all.
I liked the trendy bars on the high street with customers sitting outside refreshing themselves.
I asked a passer by if there were any older pubs in the area and he directed me to The Horse and Jockey. That looked fantastic from the outside but inside it looked like the heart of a good building had been ripped out and there was an awful smell of urine in the air.
I had to leave after one pint and, going back to the tram stop, I spied The Trevor and called in, what a difference. The landlord shouted "hello" as soon as I walked in. The beer was superb.
At first I was in the vault and the men at the bar in the  main room shouted over and said hello.
I went and had my second pint in the nice little garden at the back.
When I left the landlord and customers wished me well.
The Trevor has made a great impression on me.

Adopt your best M&S advert voice now, come on: 'This is not just The Trevor Arms. This is The Famous Trevor Arms.'

As Beech Road becomes more and more hyped, so the local crowd of pubs like the Trevor Arms increase to accommodate the townies and commuters. A famous story regarding the loyalty of the Trevor crowd goes as such: when a bunch of ne'erdowells tried to make off with the takings, a group of regulars ran after them and scared them so much that the robbers dropped the money and scrammed. When you're an exhausted bartender desperate for your shift to end, you should remember that customers like this exist. Hey, some people care THAT MUCH.

This Punch Tavern owned boozer looks traditional but its interior is certainly up to date, managing to maintain a more homely as opposed to upmarket feel. You can see Sky Sports from pretty much anywhere you sit - great for football, not so great for football widows - and people do love to come here to watch a match or two. Remember that this is a big draw and when matches are on, you're unlikely to get a chair in a place already short on space so come early. The pub holds no pretentions and you'll find a more down to earth crowd here than you would in the city centre for example. Younger folks tend to flock in during evenings and weekends but you'll also witness a few men of ale chatting to the bartenders and putting the world to rights. Just like my beloved Crescent, you'll see the same people again and again if you attend regularly and soon it will become one of those heartwarming places... #Where everybody knows your name...#

There's nothing exciting on draught usually, just your run of the mill Carling, Stella, Guinness, John Smiths and Fosters, but they do have two guest ales on rotation and these are usually more adventurous. House wine will only set you back £6.10 a bottle and there are a few bottled beers to choose from as well as alcopops, which you shouldn't be seen drinking in a proper pub, I mean that's just ludicrous. Save it for Wetherspoons and Walkabout for goodness sake. All in all, a nicely old-fashioned and charming place without the hoity-toitiness of a lot of its Beech Road neighbours. Worth a try.

The Famous Trevor Arms, or The Trev as it is known in its truncated form, is a pretty soldi pub. No complaints, although it is a Utd pub  a mate of mine once went in there with a Citeh shirt on and he was told by one certain Amos Jones to, 'Make like a banana and split'. I'm not sure how that makes me feel. On the one hand, it's never nice to be told to leave a pub for no good reason. But, anyone who can pull off the whole banana/split shout-down is okay by me. This is another good Guinness pub.
